Venue Operations
Stand Construction
All stands and temporary structures must comply with the relevant building codes and all relevant Australian Standards. Custom stands will require a certificate of Compliance Design as part of the Permit to Work application. Display items with rough or sharp surfaces must not rest on the floor without a protective covering to protect the wooden floors. Display stands over the standard height of 2.4m and must be approved by Museum Spaces as it may effect emergency egress sightline.
Goods Lift
The venue has two passenger lifts, where only carry-on items and REB-approved trolleys may be used. Pallet jacks are not permitted in the passenger lifts.
Western Lift: door dimension 1.05m wide x 2.05m high
Northern Lift: door dimension 1.3m wide x 1.2m high
Naked flames or candles
Naked flames are not permitted in any part of the REB building. Open flame cooking is only permitted in the kiosk or in an approved structure externally to the REB.
Water and drainage
Water may only be drawn from facilities located in the Ground Floor service pits. It is strictly prohibited to draw water from any fire hose or hydrant. Water service pits are located throughout the Ground Floor. The Licensee must ensure that all stands requiring water connection or drainage are located above a water pit. Under no circumstances should drainage fixtures be removed to dispose of material other than clean water.
Water Features
To assist in protecting the timber floors it is essential that a plastic membrane is laid prior to the installation of displays that incorporate water features, including but not limited to fountains, ponds, pools, spas and displays incorporating plants that require watering.
Emergency Procedures
In the case of an emergency, the REB’s structured Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) will initiate and coordinate appropriate responses, including emergency evacuations. The ECO and associated procedures have been implemented according to the relevant Australian Standard for the safety of the site’s occupants in an emergency situation. The ECO always places the safety of life above the protection of property and assets. The alert tone ‘beep beep’ means stand by for further instructions. Upon hearing the evacuation tone ‘whoop whoop’ it means it is now time to evacuate calmly and quickly through the nearest fire exit.
