So often in the mass manufactured world of today, you forget about the skill and craft behind products. Jane Burbidge has been honing her talent for ceramics for nearly 15 years to produce her range of homewares.
Ceramics by Just Jane is a range of contemporary porcelain homewares, handmade on a pottery wheel by Jane in her home based studio in the Adelaide hills. Her range spans from individual statement pieces to complete dining sets, all produced from high quality materials. Jane is driven to combine aesthetics and function creating pieces which are a pleasure to hold and use.

Here’s a little more about the Jane’s story…
How did you end up where you are today?
I attended TAFE in 1997 and attained Certificate I & II in Art Practice. Then I attended University SA from 1998-2000 for a Bachelor of Applied Arts, Ceramics and Glass. I was then selected as Design Associate in the Ceramic Department at Jam Factory, Centre for Contemporary Craft, where I started developing and refining my skills to create salable production products. In 2004 I did Certificate IV in small Business Management and have been gradually building my business since then.

What’s the best thing about what you do?
Being able to create while having a job doing something I enjoy and seeing customers appreciation for my work.
Why did you choose to exhibit at Life Instyle?
To be able to showcase my products to a diverse selection of boutique buyers looking for quality work, and the opportunity to broaden my knowledge, exposure, experiences and product outlets.
What are you looking forward to at the show?
Interacting with retail/gallery owners and receiving feedback on my products.
What can we expect to see from you at the show?
I will be presenting a select display from several different series of functional domestic ware- including, but not limited to – bowls, platters, mugs, jugs, teapots and vases. My work is inspired by colours, shapes and textures within nature and I enhance this by retaining the intrinsic qualities of the porcelain making my work a tactile experience as well as visual and functional.
