First Instyle debutante Little Branch had courted 20 new suppliers by the end of day one in Sydney. And when you see their cards, prints and wrapping it’s easy to understand why.
Little Branch is Maree Oaten: graphic designer, world traveler, photographer, mother of three and collector of shoes, miniature clothes pegs and vintage fabric swatches; and Anna Johnson: artist, author and poet, arch romantic, tree lover, mother of one and collector of Eastern textiles, teacups and fallen branches.
The duo met working in advertising some years ago, and have since combined their talents to create a range of glorious, hand crafted stationery. All of the original artwork for Little Branch is hand-painted with a size four paint brush on hand-made watercolour paper and upcycled paper fragments.
Each collection has a story to tell. Origami Blues (above) was born from Maree’s collection of Japanese origami papers. Anna’s first watercolours were only executed in Prussian blue ink on ivory Arches watercolour paper. The two fused their love of orientalism, solitude, bleeding symbolist flowers, Baudelaire and rain for this line.
The ‘Rags and Glory’ collection (above) springboards from the illustrations featured in Anna’s book “Savvy Chic: The Art of More for Less”. The heart of the book, and the artwork, is that of the vagabond thrift seeker. All that is aged, a bit broken, fragile, treasured, well used and well worn, is loved.
Viewing the ‘Wrapping‘ section of their website is a hidden treasure chest of lush watercolour prints in dreamy colour and paper combinations. Below are a few of our favourites.
Digital prints (300mmx400mm) and larger limited edition prints (400mm x500mm) complement the range, bringing a more permanent home these exquisite artworks.

Perhaps the design style of Little Branch is best described by themselves: “At Little Branch we make art for every season of mood, especially the ones you can’t quite name.”
